Are you heading to Lake Tahoe soon?
Our last stay was mid September and we had amazing 70-80 degree weather our entire stay. Perfect for patios, fire pits, and outdoor biking. Let us help you plan your next adventure by reading more about our straight to the point favorite picks and why below.
Where to stay?
-Edgewood Tahoe Resort & Golf Course- 5 Star Resort $$$
Very upscale, but not stuffy lakeside resort with multiple casual and high end restaurants as well as a coffee shop w/ to go food (the breakfast burritos are amazing!,) spa and modern outdoor heated pool. This property originally started as a beautiful golf course and it still remains with a pro shop as well. The grounds are kept up amazingly well. They did not skimp on the restrooms as most have soaker tubs. The resort offers high end decor within the resort and rooms as well as being immaculate in cleanliness.
I believe they have a gym as well, but we did not visit during our short stay. Good for business, couples, and children.
-The Landing Tahoe Resort and Spa- 5 Star Resort $$
Quaint resort overlooking Lake Tahoe with a great restaurant and spa. The smaller resort is older, clean, and the rooms are themed with some of them offering fireplaces. There are a few rooms offered that you can see the beach and lake from their balconies. The location is very close to the casinos and the main strip in South Tahoe. A great restaurant, Jimmys at The Landing is also located on the 1st floor. Several weddings are hosted here as well.
We did not locate a gym here. Could be romantic and/or good for children.
-Marriott Grand Residence Club- 4 Star Hotel $$
Lodge style and located in a ski village very central to several amenities. Warm laid back 1 and 2 bedroom rooms with wifi. Also has a spa, heated outdoor pool, hot tub, sauna, and exercise room. Some rooms offer 2 levels, fireplaces, balcony, and whirlpool tubs.
I believe they have a gym here as well. Good for children.
-AirBNB Options-
There are several AirBNB options all over Lake Tahoe. We chose not to go this route as we really enjoy the fantastic service that most hotels/resorts offer locally as well as socializing with other travelers.
Other towns/areas to visit nearby: North Shore, Incline Village, Kings Beach, North Lake Tahoe
How to get there and get around:
You can usually catch a flight out of most major cities and depending on where you are staying either schedule ahead of time a driver (most are yellow taxis) or an Uber. When it comes to getting around town your best bet would be a shuttle if your hotel/resort offers one (most do within a certain vicinity of the hotel/resort, ask the front desk,) Yellow Taxi, or Uber (Uber usually takes quite a bit longer so plan ahead.)

Food in South Lake Tahoe…
-Jimmy’s at The Landing – $
This restaurant is located on the 1st floor of The Landing Resort and has been updated with a more modern feel. It offers breakfast, lunch, weekend brunch, and dinner in an indoor/outdoor setting featuring a great patio. We love the food here with the exception of the smaller varying lunch menu. You can also see the beach and lake from the patio. We come here every trip to Tahoe.
-Edgewood Restaurant- $$$
American dinner in an upscale lodge. The food and service here were both very good.
-The Bistro Edgewood- $$$
They serve homemade classics with inspiration from the local area. This was by far our favorite restaurant during our stay. We dined on the patio with exceptional service, cocktails, and food (filet & short rib I would come back for.)
-Brooks Bar & Deck- $$
Casual lodge like bar w/ 6 indoor tables and large flat screen w/ bar type food & drinks.
-Azul Latin Kitchen- $
Azul is a fun atmosphere usually offering live music on the patio weather permitting and good tex mex fare.
-Gordon Ramsays Hells Kitchen-$$$
Located in the casino, the food is amazing here. Sometimes service can be hit or miss depending on how busy they are, but a solid overall go to pick.
-Riva Grill on the Lake- $$$
Riva’s serves American far and rum drinks on the lakefront. We are yet to make it here (but have seen it in person many times) in our many trips to Tahoe, but are always recommended the restaurant by locals and can’t wait to try it ourselves. It is located in Ski Run Marina.
With plenty to see and do whether you check out Tahoe for a weekend or a week it’s a must see! Feel free to reach out to us with any questions you may have. -MissLuxxTravel
